Founded on September 1st, 1967 as "Liceul de Cultură Generală nr. 43", the school evolved into "Liceul de Matematică-Fizică Nr. 3" by 1977— one of just five elite science-focused high schools in Bucharest at the time.
It maintained a strong academic profile throughout the decades, standing out among top schools such as N. Bălcescu, Mihai Viteazul, Gheorghe Lazăr, and others that later became National Colleges.
